2007 was the first year that I have led a workshop, ever - although I have assisted here and there in the past. Somehow life was giving me strong messages I should.
At the last two One World festivals, there were several people convinced that I must be running a workshop, and several more telling me that I should. It was a mystery to me at the time what exactly I should be doing in my workshop. Last year I'd not long completed the second year of my sound therapy course with Peter Goldman http://www.lightcoloursound.com and found a few guinea pigs for my new skills in Sevenoaks, one of whom told me I should be showing other people how to do it...
...however I didn't feel ready to do it at the time and waited until the next time I saw Peter so I could ask him if he would like to do an introductory workshop to sound therapy at One World. Peter showed great interest in One World but didn't know how it would fit into his schedule. The next time I saw him. about 3 months before One World 2007, I knew he wasn't going to do it and was slowly coming round to the idea of maybe, just maybe passing on the little I had absorbed of Peter's enormous wisdom and practice in sound therapy.
I tentatively asked Peter what he thought of the idea and he said something to the effect of "You know enough, you're good with people, go for it !"
I'm so glad I did the workshops now. It cost me a small fortune to get all the special sets of tuning forks for the participants, but it was well worth it. Several people gave me such heartfelt feedback and I was even handed a note with a sort of poem on it by a lady with tears in her eyes at the end of one of the workshops - and there was me thinking she was writing down notes
I learnt so much myself too. First when I was preparing the workshop and defining what was the most important to me to pass on in the 90 minute time slots available, and then in the workshops themselves, which all had their own very different and special flavours from the participants.
Joao told me that many people have done their first workshops at One World, so if you're playing with the idea of sharing your own wonderful knowledge and talents, I can only say that I couldn't think of anywhere nicer to do it and encourage you to go ahead...
